How to Decorate a Room Once the Tree is Up

Christmas is almost here and the hustle and bustle of the season can make it hard to find time to get a tree, decorate the tree, and enjoy the tree!

We love designing spaces with our custom furniture in our showrooms and even more when we get to add holiday pieces. We’ve come up with some design tips for your Christmas tree that we’re sure you’ll love.

Take an Inventory of Your Furniture

Choose the room(s) for your tree(s). Yes, trees is plural. We know some of you LOVE having multiple trees and decorating them in different themes—so, choose the best room for your tree and its theme. In the room(s) you select, review the furniture and note what pieces can be removed during the holiday season. It’s very important to visualize and then create walkways in your room so there are no obstructions caused by your tree. The tree height is also very important. Rooms with taller ceilings are great spaces for 9ft + tall trees.

Pick the Perfect Placement

Make your tree the focal point of the room but make sure it’s not obstructive. You’ll want to keep your tree out of walkways, away from fireplaces, and make sure it’s not blocking a TV. Put it in a spot where it catches your eye and can be admired from various vantage points.

Reuse Furniture You Removed

Remember that furniture you moved out of the space to make room for your tree? You don’t have to put it in storage! Find other parts of the house where that piece of furniture can function. Perhaps you had to move the ottoman. Consider moving it into your office or the dining room. Cover it with a festive throw blanket and let it provide an added layer of holiday spirit in your home.
